Easter Weekend

We had a beautiful Easter this year.

Every morning before school, we did these sweet activities to prepare for Easter and think more about Christ.  This was in the Children's Friend this year, a magazine subscription for children put out by our church.  I loved the special spirit these daily activities brought to our home, and want to make this a tradition in years to come.  You can download this page yourself here.

On Wednesday, we had Gerald's parents (who were still in town since Katelee's baptism) over for dinner and an evening of egg-dying.
Blake was particularly interested in this egg-dying stuff this year!
Ha ha, this is the best picture I got!
Pretty!

The Saturday before Easter, we held our annual Easter Egg Hunt.  We have been doing this now for 5 years, and we honestly couldn't imagine Easter without this fun tradition!  We invite anyone and everyone to participate.  Neighbors donate their own eggs, and we go out early and hide/place all the eggs for the hunt.  We had a perfect number of people this year, not too big and not too small, and I think everyone had a wonderful time!

This was about half the eggs we put out.
Hard to see, but can you see the scattered plastic eggs and 'planted' suckers around?
Some of the group beginning to line up.
Blake LOVED the egg hunt this year!  For the first time, he really understood what to do and wanted to participate, and he had so much fun running around collecting eggs!!
He particularly loved following his little buddy, James.
Katelee also had a great time on the hunt, and found some delicious eggs!
Look what I found, mom!
Following the Easter Egg Hunt, we went home to find that the Easter bunny had come and filled out kids' baskets and hid them away.  The kids had fun running around searching for their baskets.  Blake's was behind the curtains, Katelee's in the pantry.  We spent a happy hour or more enjoying the spoils.

Sunday morning we got ready in our Sunday best for church, and had a little family devotional about the true meaning of Easter before leaving.  Then we had to do the usual Easter morning photo shoot of these cuties.  :)

I love Easter, and this one was so lovely.

Oh, and Blake really enjoyed his chocolate bunny after church.  :)
(Yes, he's giving it a hug...)
